Real Estate Acquisition Tax and Fixed Asset Tax

The number of cases where individuals residing outside Japan (non-residents) purchase real estate in Japan and do not rent it out has been increasing recently.

In such cases, since there is no requirement to file an individual income tax return, tax accountants are not involved, and there are cases where Real Estate Acquisition Tax and Fixed Asset Tax(and City Planning Tax) are not paid.

Among the taxes payable upon acquiring real estate, they can only be paid after submitting a Notification of Tax Agent to the prefecture and municipality.

If this notification is not submitted and the Real Estate Acquisition Tax and Fixed Asset Tax are not paid, the real estate may be seized.
